As the NBA trade deadline approaches, Joel Embiid made his stance on the Philadelphia 76ers roster direction clear: he wants continuity.

Following a recent standout performance, Embiid publicly urged Philadelphia’s front office to avoid making cost-cutting or salary-dump trades that could weaken the team. Instead, the former MVP voiced confidence in the current group and the chemistry the Sixers have developed this season.

“We’ve been ducking the tax the last couple years,” Embiid said. “Hopefully, we keep the same team. I love all the guys that are here. I think we got a shot.”

Those comments marked one of Embiid’s most direct public messages to management regarding roster construction. With trade rumors surrounding several rotation players, Embiid’s message was pointed, any move should improve the team’s championship chances, not simply provide financial relief.

The timing is significant. In recent seasons, the Sixers have taken a conservative approach at the deadline, prioritizing roster flexibility over aggressive upgrades. Embiid’s remarks suggest he wants a more win-now mindset, especially with Philadelphia remaining in the Eastern Conference mix.

Embiid also emphasized the importance of stability, believing the current roster has enough talent and cohesion to make a deep postseason run if it stays intact. As the NBA Trade Deadline draws closer, his words add pressure on the front office to balance financial considerations with the expectations of their franchise cornerstone.
