Trade speculation surrounding A.J. Brown is expected to intensify as the NFL Scouting Combine approaches, with league insiders suggesting conversations between the Philadelphia Eagles and Brown’s camp could soon gain momentum.
NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo shared insight this week after briefly speaking with Brown, noting that the star receiver acknowledged much of the situation is currently out of his hands.
“A lot of this is out of my control at this point,” Brown told Garafolo.
Garafolo added that while trade speculation has been widespread — even among league insiders — there remains a clear distinction between speculation and actual negotiations. According to multiple sources, no formal trade talks have taken place between the Eagles and other teams, and communication with Brown’s camp has been limited so far. However, those discussions are expected to pick up around the Combine, now just two weeks away.
Garafolo also emphasized that Brown appears to be handling the uncertainty well, describing him as being “in a good space,” calmer, and more at peace with the process.
If Philadelphia ultimately decides to move on, the financial implications are significant. Trading Brown would result in a $43.5 million cap hit, meaning the Eagles would require substantial compensation in return — likely premium draft capital or impact players.
For now, Brown remains an Eagle. But as the NFL calendar turns toward Indianapolis, all signs point to the Combine serving as a key inflection point in what could become one of the offseason’s biggest storylines.
