The Nick Castellanos era in Philadelphia is coming to an end.
Multiple sources indicate the Philadelphia Phillies have no plans to bring Castellanos back in 2026 and are actively working to move the veteran outfielder before Spring Training, ideally finding a trade partner willing to absorb part of his remaining salary.
Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Phillies are currently in talks with “two or three” teams, with the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies emerging as potential suitors. Both clubs ranked among baseball’s bottom five in designated hitter production last season.
Castellanos struggled in 2025, posting a .694 OPS, and would need a rebound to boost his trade value.
If no deal materializes, Philadelphia is expected to release Castellanos and pay the full $20 million owed on the final year of his contract.
