It’s not all too often that I get worked up over a “list” or so-called power rankings. They’re arbitrary figments of someone’s imagination. But every now and then, something pops up that makes you stop and say, what?!

That’s exactly what happened when MLB Network unveiled its Top 10 Relievers in baseball and somehow Jhoan Durán was nowhere to be found.

Who knows, maybe they’re factoring in his earlier time with the Minnesota Twins. Maybe they’re holding that against him. But if this list is supposed to reflect right now, his 2025 body of work with the Philadelphia Phillies tells a very different story.

Durán finished the 2025 season with a 2.21 ERA, 31 saves, and 96 strikeouts in 65 innings, routinely shutting the door in high-leverage spots. Opponents hit just .186 against him, and his triple-digit fastball paired with a vicious splitter made him nearly unhittable down the stretch.

Leaving Durán off a Top 10 relievers list isn’t just questionable, it’s flat-out embarrassing. Sometimes, these rankings miss the mark. This is one of those times.
