What was supposed to be a home game turned into a nightmare in South Philly.
During Tuesday night’s blowout loss to the New York Knicks, the Philadelphia 76ers were left not only chasing points but battling crowd noise inside Xfinity Mobile Arena as Knicks fans flooded the building and made their presence loudly known.
From tipoff through the final buzzer, chants of “Let’s go Knicks” echoed through the arena, creating an uncomfortable road-game atmosphere for Philly. Social media quickly lit up with videos showing large pockets of orange and blue throughout the lower bowl, sparking debate about ticket prices, fan engagement, and the state of the Sixers’ season.
And unfortunately, this isn’t new.
Knicks fans also famously took over the then-Wells Fargo Center during last season’s NBA Playoffs, turning multiple games into de facto home contests for New York.
The lopsided score only fueled the takeover. As New York built a massive lead, traveling fans grew bolder, celebrating openly while frustrated Sixers supporters headed for the exits in droves.
For Philadelphia, this wasn’t just a loss in the standings.
It was a reminder — not that absentee owner Josh Harris cares— that when the product slips, opposing fans are more than happy to fill the void.
