The Philadelphia Phillies have officially moved on from embattled outfielder Nick Castellanos and now the incident that led to his removal from the everyday lineup is finally coming into focus.

According to Castellanos himself, the breaking point came during a road game against the Miami Marlins.

Taking to Instagram, Castellanos posted a handwritten letter explaining what happened.

The CliffsNotes version:

Castellanos was pulled from the game in Miami. Frustrated, he brought a beer into the dugout. He proceeded to offer what he described as “advice” to manager Rob Thomson. The exchange didn’t end there, Castellanos acknowledged continuing the confrontation later in the clubhouse.

In his letter, Castellanos framed the moment as emotional and reactionary, admitting his frustrations boiled over after losing playing time.

Still, bringing alcohol into the dugout and confronting the manager mid-game crossed a clear organizational line, one that ultimately accelerated his exit.

Now, Philadelphia turns the page and Castellanos enters free-agent limbo, hoping another club is willing to bet on a reset.
