Somewhere on the internet recently, a headline popped up claiming Jalen Hurts is the “most hated player in the NFL.”
Apparently, Vegas Insider parked on SportsRadio 94 WIP for about 20 minutes and heard a slew of callers demand a quarterback competition, one guy suggest resigning Nick Foles, and another blame the head coach — and boom (Madden!) — decided Hurts is the “most hated player in the NFL.”
No, seriously. That’s gotta be what actually sparked the “voting” for a dumb online “hate score” poll attributed to Vegas Insider, the latest version of quintessential internet engagement data wrapped in a click-friendly headline.
Meanwhile, Hurts continues to win games for the Philadelphia Eagles, stack playoff appearances, and keep Philly firmly in the Super Bowl conversation. And when you’re successful, especially in this city, criticism comes with the territory.
If being “most hated” means living rent-free in everyone’s head while your team keeps winning, Hurts will gladly wear that crown.
