Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt will not return to the Philadelphia Phillies broadcast booth on NBC Sports Philadelphia for the 2026 season, marking the end of a long-running on-air chapter.

Schmidt’s periodic appearances date back to 2014, when he rejoined Phillies telecasts for weekend home games after earlier work in 1990 soon after retiring as a player. Over recent years, his schedule became lighter, and he appeared in just four games in 2025, including the final regular-season matchup against the Minnesota Twins.

While the network did not provide specific reasons for the change, play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy confirmed Schmidt will be around the organization in other ways, but not in the booth.

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s 2026 coverage will feature McCarthy alongside analysts Ruben Amaro Jr., Ben Davis, and John Kruk, with Cole Hamels continuing in a part-time role.

Schmidt’s Hall of Fame career included three NL MVPs and 548 home runs, cementing his status as one of the franchise’s all-time greats.
