Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley says the changes on offense under new coordinator Sean Mannion have given him a fresh sense of excitement as the club heads into the 2026 season. Barkley, who is entering his third year with the Eagles and ninth in the NFL, told NFL Network that Mannion’s approach is unlike anything he’s experienced before and that’s a good thing.
“I’m super excited about it,” Barkley said. “I’m going on Year 9, which is crazy to say, and I’ve had a lot of different coaches and head coaches and been a part of a lot of systems. I don’t think I really came across a system like this. For me, it’s refreshing.”
The Eagles’ offense struggled to find consistency in 2025, leading to the departure of former coordinator Kevin Patullo following an early playoff exit. Mannion, 33, brings a new offensive vision and energy after spending the previous two seasons as the Green Bay Packers’ quarterbacks coach, and Barkley appears all in on the transition.
For Barkley, the opportunity to learn something new and test himself in a different system is part of the appeal. With his elite skill set and past success in Philadelphia, he believes the revamped offense could help the Eagles regain their footing, become more dynamic, and make a run at another Super Bowl title.
