Penn State lost one of the best young coaching hires they made earlier this offseason when the NFL in the form of Green Bay came calling to poach Noah Pauley before he could coach a single game for the Nittany Lions.

Now Matt Campbell and Penn State are returning the favor.

On Tuesday, the announcement came that the program has hired Kashif Moore.

Moore isn’t a huge name to many, but neither was Pauley. Penn State will be banking on the fact that Campbell found Pauley in the first place with the new hire.

Moore is an established coach, however.

After playing the position at UConn, in the CFL, and spending time on the practice squads with the Chiefs, Steelers, Texans, Chargers, and Colts, Moore returned to his alma mater over the past several seasons where he coached receivers.

Just last year, he coached a Biletnikoff Award finalist in Skyler Bell. If Penn State has a finalist for that award, it’ll be a step up from what we’ve seen for nearly half a decade.

Moore had left UConn to go to Colorado State following this season, following head coach Jim Mora. He won’t coach a game there, returning to the northeast region and a school nearby his hometown in New Jersey.
