The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled forward Alex Bump from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, giving the 22-year-old prospect his first opportunity at the NHL level. He is expected to make his NHL debut Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Bump’s promotion comes following the Flyers’ trade-deadline moves that opened up a roster spot in the forward group. The 2022 fifth-round pick has been producing in the American Hockey League this season, recording 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 36 games with Lehigh Valley.
Prior to turning pro, Bump played collegiately at Western Michigan, where he developed into one of the organization’s intriguing forward prospects. His recent offensive surge in the AHL, including six points over his last six games, helped earn the call-up.
With the Flyers continuing to evaluate young talent late in the season, Bump now gets his chance to make an impression at the NHL level.
