The Eagles have reached a deal.

Earlier in the offseason, it was clear that the team had decisions to make to try and work on extensions with young contributors.

The first of those deals is now in place, as reports indicate that Jordan Davis will be sticking with the Eagles.

Davis has been impressive and has really improved the last two seasons as he’s gotten in better shape and has been able to play more snaps.

The team accepted his fifth-year option last offseason, so he’s already back with the team for the 2026 season at around $13 million.

That means the new record-breaking deal ($26 million AAV) will not take effect until the 2027 season and will keep Davis under team control through the 2029 season.

$65 million is guaranteed in the deal. Certainly, Howie was likely to have put void years on the deal to push a lot of cap hit into 2030.

For the Eagles, they could look at the deal for this coming year and this extension as one deal for four years, $81 million ($20.25 AAV).

The $26 AAV is currently in line with Milton Williams and behind Chris Jones for interior DL (not necessarily nose tackle), but if the team views it at $20.25 million as though it’s one contract, that AAV would put Davis as 16th in the league among interior lineman.

All of that is before this free agency cycle begins – an important note as John Franklin-Myers and/or Calais Campbell could look to raise the rates that teams pay for good defensive tackles once again at that point.
