The Philadelphia Phillies have signed starting pitcher Jesús Luzardo to a five-year, $135 million contract extension, according to multiple reports. The deal keeps the left-hander in Philadelphia long-term as the club continues to prioritize building one of the strongest starting rotations in baseball.
Luzardo delivered an impressive season for the Phillies, going 15–7 with a 3.92 ERA across 32 starts. He logged 183.2 innings and struck out 216 batters while posting a 1.22 WHIP.
With the extension in place, Luzardo is locked in as an integral part of a rotation that includes Zack Wheeler, Cristopher Sánchez, Aaron Nola, and potentially top prospect Andrew Painter.
