The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly exploring options to bolster their linebacker room.

According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Eagles are among several teams that have reached out to the Pittsburgh Steelers about linebacker Patrick Queen. Harris reported that “a handful of teams” have checked in with Pittsburgh regarding the veteran defender’s availability.

Philadelphia’s interest would make sense given the team’s offseason changes at the position. The Eagles will need to replenish linebacker depth after Nakobe Dean departed in free agency for the Las Vegas Raiders, leaving behind snaps and leadership in the middle of the defense.

Queen, 26, is coming off another productive season in Pittsburgh. The former Pro Bowler recorded 120 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, and two forced fumbles last season while serving as a key piece of the Steelers’ defense.

At this stage, the report indicates the Eagles’ contact with Pittsburgh is exploratory. Still, with Philadelphia looking to strengthen its linebacker group, Queen’s name is one to watch as offseason trade rumors continue.
