The Eagles have activity at tight end.
The team with be bringing back: Grant Calcaterra?
The deal is almost certainly not even guaranteed.
Calcaterra seemingly makes sense as a depth option. The concern is they return a guy they trotted out there far too many snaps last year.
The fifth-year tight end spent all previous seasons in Philly after being a college teammate of Hurts.
He was rarely used in the passing game and was a blatant embarrassment on blocking plays where he often went out of his way to avoid blocking the guy he was supposed to – even sneaking between two intended blocks once or twice on his way to blocking no one at all.
That said, Calcaterra has shown some ability in the passing game, but unfortunately he was not utilized that way much under the previous coordinator – instead leaning heavily into his weakness. Perhaps Sean Mannion can fix that issues.
