The Philadelphia 76ers will be without star guard Tyrese Maxey for the foreseeable future. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Maxey has been diagnosed with a tendon injury in his right pinkie finger after leaving Saturday’s game in Atlanta with a hand injury.
Additional imaging and specialist evaluations confirmed the injury, and Maxey will be re-evaluated in three weeks.
The loss is a significant blow for Philadelphia. Maxey has been the team’s offensive engine and emotional leader this season, averaging 26.4 points, 6.7 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game while taking on a larger leadership role in the locker room.
With Maxey sidelined, the Sixers now face a difficult stretch without their top playmaker and one of the franchise’s most important voices on and off the court.
