This is bigger news than many fans probably realize.

It seems Brett Toth will be headed to San Francisco next season as the Army graduate and long-time Eagle will depart.

The team did lose Matt Pryor earlier in free agency, but that wasn’t much of a loss as far as play.

In Toth’s case, however, fans were angry with him for being rough when he came in mid-game to replace Cam Jurgens and made a few mistakes.

In his several subsequent starts, however, he was a better center than Jurgens was last year. That’s a huge loss for the depth on the Eagles offensive line.

Second-year men Drew Kendall and Jake Majors are the only other centers currently on the roster and neither has seen real NFL snaps to this point.

Toth was an Eagles undrafted free agent signing in 2019 and has spent most of his career since then in Philadelphia.

It’s unknown why he didn’t re-sign with the Eagles, but it may be in part due to the fact that Jeff Stoutland was pushed out by the head coach.
