Normally, it’s not what you’d want to see but the Eagles officially negotiated a new deal with Landon Dickerson to drop a year of control.
With rumors swirling about a potential early retirement, this offseason, the team is looking at the future of his contract.
The team on Thursday got a new deal done.
The deal reportedly doesn’t lose money for Dickerson over the next two year provided he hits incentives.
It does drop 2028 team control over Dickerson, however, which leaves him only under contract for two years. This would be big if he’s planning retirement and the team wants to avoid getting hit with all that dead cap in the next two offseasons.
It seems like a bit of planning ahead here to sort that out so that Dickerson could then sign one-year deals if he chooses to continue on but the Eagles aren’t hung out to dry if he decides he wants to hang it up after 2027.
