The Philadelphia 76ers are navigating one of their toughest stretches of the season as injuries continue to thin out the roster.
Forward Kelly Oubre Jr. suffered an elbow sprain that could sideline him for multiple weeks. The injury comes at a difficult time for the Sixers, who have already been without franchise center Joel Embiid and All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey.
Maxey is expected to miss at least three weeks after suffering a tendon injury in his right pinkie finger. He has been Philadelphia’s offensive engine this season, averaging roughly 29 points per game while carrying one of the league’s heaviest workloads.
Despite the setbacks, Philadelphia remains in the Eastern Conference playoff race and is fighting to hold its position in the standings.
STP Take: If the Sixers are going to stay competitive during this stretch, role players and younger contributors – such as Cam Payne and VJ Edgecombe – will need to step up until the stars return.
