The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly hitting pause on potential trade discussions involving star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
According to Diana Russini, the Eagles have tabled trade talks for now despite “serious” discussions with multiple teams, including the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots. While interest in Brown remains strong around the league, Philadelphia is not expected to make a move in the immediate future.
It’s simply dollars and cents.
Trading Brown before June 1 would create a massive dead-cap hit for the Eagles, making a deal difficult to execute at this stage of the offseason.
That doesn’t mean the rumors are finished.
If a trade were to materialize later this offseason —particularly after June 1 — the Eagles would reportedly seek a massive return, potentially including premium draft capital for the three-time Pro Bowl receiver.
For now, Brown remains on the Birds’ roster… and fodder for sports talk radio.
