The Eagles are adding another back.

The team officially lost AJ Dillon yesterday and they bring in a replacement today.

Former Texans running back Dameon Pierce has been brought in as of Thursday.

Pierce was a fourth-round pick in the 2022 draft and wound up being the starter for the Texans that year, putting up 939 rushing yards on 220 attempts (4.3 YPA).

He became a backup in 2023 with 416 yards, starting only seven games.

Last season, he spent much of the prep time on the PUP list and he was eventually waived in November. He spent the back half of the season with the Chiefs, but appeared in just one game for them.

He’ll get to compete for a role in Philadelphia, perhaps as a kick returner (he did some return work for the Texans from 2023-25).

At running back, it seems an uphill battle to dethrone Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby made a massive impression in his time to cement himself as the clear RB2 last year down the stretch.

The team also has Will Shipley, still on his rookie deal, and had previously brought on Carson Steele, seemingly in a potential fullback role.

The deal is likely not one that will guarantee him a roster spot and should not affect any comp pick formulas.
