The Eagles have moved up in the draft.

Using a young player who showed promise his rookie year, the Eagles have gotten the Atlanta Falcons to swap their their picks in the fourth and sixth rounds.

Sydney Brown will be headed to the Falcons.

The deal should clear $1.5 million in cap space for the Eagles.

Brown looked promising his rookie year but never took the next step. He spent the last two seasons bouncing between being injured, taking dumb penalties, and injuring his own teammates.

Now the Eagles, who were benching him anyway and looking to find any way to keep him off the field on defense, are able to increase their draft capital and clear his salary.

The Eagles move up eight picks in the fourth round and 18 in the sixth. Depending on how the draft goes, that value could be seen in other picks; If the Eagles stay put in the draft, they no longer have to give up their later picks to have moved up. Perhaps more likely, if they trade back again in the later rounds, they may view those additional picks they add in this draft and the next as the return on this trade.

The Eagles did re-sign Marcus Epps at safety shortly after this deal was announced.
