The Eagles are solidifying their secondary ahead of the draft.

In a move more important than many might think, the Eagles re-signed Marcus Epps to the squad on Friday.

The team also agreed to a deal with J.T. Gray.

Epps was signed mid-season and was a great addition to the Eagles once again.

With Sydney Brown struggling, he began getting reps and took over the starting role opposite Reed Blankenship with Andrew Mukuba on the shelf due to injury.

Now, with Brown traded, he takes his place again.

After spending three and a half seasons with the Eagles and earning a starting role under Jim Schwartz, Epps left to join the Raiders on a big-money contract he had earned.

Now he’s back in Philly again and has earned the respect of new DC Vic Fangio.

In 12 games last year (four starts), he recorded 21 tackles for the Birds

As Rapoport notes, Gray is a three-time All-Pro, though those nominations have been for special teams.

Over the course of eight seasons in the NFL, Gray has played just 153 defensive snaps compared to 2231 special teams snaps.

He’ll compete for a depth role and perhaps his presence makes it easier for the Eagles to look at moving on from Kelee Ringo if they could find any trade suitors looking to take a flier on his talent.
