Update
Robert has been released from the hospital after Sunday’s incident.
Philadelphia Phillies reliever Daniel Robert suffered a frightening medical emergency during a bullpen session at spring training in Clearwater, collapsing after appearing to grab his chest. The incident has been identified as a cardiac event, marking the second such scare for Robert in the last six months.
According to Phillies Nation’s Ty Daubert, Robert was quickly attended to by team medical staff and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later listed as stable and alert. He has since been released, but the situation raises serious questions about his future in baseball.
The 29-year-old right-hander previously experienced a life-threatening cardiac episode in October, requiring CPR and a defibrillator. Doctors later implanted a device to regulate his heart rhythm, one that reportedly activated during this latest incident.
Robert’s2026 status is now uncertain, but frankly, it shouldn’t matter. His focus needs to be on his health.
