The Philadelphia Phillies are taking a cautious approach with top prospect Aidan Miller as he continues to deal with a lingering back issue that has limited his baseball activity this spring.
While the organization has downplayed long-term concern, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski acknowledged the situation isn’t without some uncertainty.
“Any time a guy’s out with an injury and it comes back, there’s a little concern,” Dombrowski said, while emphasizing that Miller is still progressing.
Dombrowski added that Miller has been able to stay active and run, but has done “not much baseball,” as the Phillies prioritize a full recovery over rushing him back into action.
The 21-year-old infielder hasn’t swung a bat in weeks, and there’s currently no firm timetable for his return to game activity. For now, the Phillies appear focused on the long-term outlook, ensuring one of their top prospects is fully healthy before ramping things back up.
