The Phillies just had opening day and cruised to a 5-3 win to start the season.

In the middle of that very opening day game, the Philadelphia Inquirer dropped a story on third baseman Alec Bohm.

On Wednesday, just before opening day, Bohm filed a lawsuit against his parents.

His parents, Daniel and Lisa, sent a message to the Inquirer via their attorney:

“Mr. and Mrs. Bohm love their son very much and have always acted in his best interests, both personally and professionally and still do so to this day,” said Robert Eckard, the pair’s attorney. “They are deeply saddened by the allegations made against them in this lawsuit and the sensational false narrative painted here, which they believe are entirely without merit.”

In essence, the lawsuit claims that Bohm’s MLB earnings have been housed in LLCs since 2019 and his parents have had a 10% stake in those LLCs.

He claims he has not been provided access to all the money and that his parents have used millions to cover their own expenses.

For those that recall, franchise legend Ryan Howard had similar issues with his family in 2013. Howard had a similar setup with his family and took control of his finances. That led to his brother suing him and then Ryan counter-suing his family.

That case resulted in the two sides settling out of court.
