More moves at tight end.
Around the same time as they re-signed Calcaterra, the Eagles also brought in TE Johnny Mundt.
Mundt is a blocking specialist, so he could also be in line to compete for a fullback role should the Eagles look to implement one for the third year in a row.
The deal is unlikely to play into the compensatory pick formula.
Mundy is a nine-year vet and has 658 yards receiving (100+ each of the last four years) but is routinely among the top blocking tight ends in the league. That alone will bring an improvement over last year’s play.
The Eagles are very thin at the tight end position for now, so Mundt has a clear path to the 53-man roster even if his deal isn’t guaranteed.
