Everything has changed for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Just before the Olympic break, the Flyers were sitting 10 points out of a wild card spot, drifting toward another lost season. There were perceived miscommunications between the head coach and one of his star players, along with continued tension between the bench and the front office.

It wasn’t just frustrating, it was bleak.

As if an Easter miracle occurred, that was then and this is now.

The Flyers now sit in the third Metropolitan Division playoff spot this Easter Monday*, fueled by a 12-6-1 run since their Feb. 25 loss to Washington, including an eight-game winning streak. The turnaround has been a complete team effort, anchored by Owen Tippett’s offensive surge and strong, steady goaltending from Dan Vladar.

The latest spark, however, has come from 2025 first-round pick Porter Martone.

Martone delivered his biggest moment yet on Easter Sunday, recording two points — including the overtime winner for his first NHL goal — pushing the Flyers into a playoff spot with five games remaining.

Now comes the hard part.

The Flyers must finish the job, with five games left on the schedule, including a massive showdown Thursday night in the Motor City against the Detroit Red Wings.

From dead in the water to postseason contenders, the Flyers are alive and control their own destiny, but their playoff fate will be decided in the days ahead.
