Plans for a new shared home for the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers are officially coming into focus, and the location is a familiar one for longtime Philly fans.

According to reports, the new arena will be built at the former Spectrum site in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. The building is slated for the southeast corner of Broad Street and Pattison Avenue, right off SEPTA’s Broad Street Line and in the heart of the stadium district.

The site carries significant history. The original Spectrum served as home to both franchises from 1967 through 1996 before its eventual demolition in 2011, making this project a symbolic return to the roots of Philadelphia basketball and hockey.

The new arena is expected to house the Flyers, Sixers, and a potential future WNBA franchise as part of a broader overhaul of the South Philly complex.

While a firm construction timeline has not yet been finalized, the project represents a major step forward in a long-developing plan to modernize the city’s sports infrastructure.
