The Philadelphia Flyers went into Pittsburgh and did more than just steal home-ice advantage. The Orange and Black are heading back to Philadelphia with a commanding 2-0 series lead after a 4-0 win in Game 2. Dan Vladar was the star of the night, turning aside all 27 shots he faced for his first career playoff shutout and continuing his strong start to the postseason.

Rookie sensation Porter Martone kept rolling, opening the scoring in the second period for his second goal of the series. Garnet Hathaway added to the Flyers’ momentum with a short-handed goal, scoring during one of Pittsburgh’s many undisciplined moments. The Penguins had their chances, but Philadelphia’s penalty kill stood tall all night, holding Pittsburgh’s power play scoreless in five chances.

Luke Glendening later put the finishing touches on the win with an empty-net goal as the Flyers completed a massive road trip sweep to begin the series. After taking both games in Pittsburgh, the Orange and Black now return home with a chance to take full control of the Battle of Pennsylvania on Wednesday in what is sure to be a raucous Xfinity Mobile Arena.
