Union battle Columbus do Draw to close home Schedule for World Cup Break

Chester, PA: We are less than 3 weeks until MLS prepares for stop in the season for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, You know what teams are going to be making noise, and those teams are trying to figure things out & for the Philadelphia Union, they fall under the category of taking it 1 game at a time, as they are still getting used to the new players & getting winning results after getting off to slow start of the season.

On Saturday night, the Union would do battle with the Columbus Crew from Subaru Park. The Union is still looking to get its first MLS home win of the season. Union comes into the game off a loss to Orlando City earlier in the week.

Sixers Adem Bona would bang the Drum to get things going

Lineup:

How the game went:
In the first couple of minutes, both the Union & Crew are figuring each other out, The scoring would get started in the 10th minute as the Union got nailed with a Yellow Card, which resulted in a free kick for the Crew & they would score

Later on in the 1st half, the Union were trying to get something going but were unable to make it happen & when the 1st half whistle blew, the crowd at Subaru Park would voice their displeasure in what they saw

The Union would finally break through the defense from Columbs to get the game tied at 1 in the 70th minute from Milan Iloski

When the goal happened, it woke up the crowd at Subaru Park, and the Union would have more effective scoring opportunities. Later on in the second half, as the Union was going to get the winning goal & making better scoring attempts, they just ran out of time as the game would end in a 1-1 draw. The Union got a point, but still looking for its first MLS home win of the season

What is next:
The Union has 1 more game before the World Cup Break, which is next week on the road at Inter Miami on May 24 & their next home game will be after the World Cup Break, which is July 22 vs. the Red Bulls.

Based on what we saw tonight & a good part of the first half of the season, the Philadelphia Union have shown a good amount of frustration in trying to get the ball down the field to attempt a shot on goal. They have had spurts where they do get the shots on goal; they just need to finish their attempts. Still, lately they have been doing a lot of passing and not getting quality shot attempts. This is not the first time we have seen this done from the Union; this did happen under former coach Jim Curtin.

Whatever is happening during the training weeks leading into gameday, for some reason, it is not producing.
