Offensive Line Depth To Be Tested Early With Landon Dickerson IR Placement

If you weren’t already aware, the Eagles placed Landon Dickerson on IR on Monday night.

Dickerson then went on the radio and told fans he wasn’t good enough and they probably should have made the move sooner.

He reports that this is unrelated to last year and is due to a leg injury from getting rolled up on in practice a few weeks ago. He was healthy before that and indicated he had not been planning to retire this offseason as some reports suggested.

Reports suggest that there was knowledge of the injury existing, but that the medical staff had not sent Dickerson for scans until after the game Sunday.

Dickerson would need to miss at least four games with the IR placement. That means he’s out for the game at the Titans, at the Bears, hosting the Rams, and at the Jaguars.

The earliest he could return is October 18 against the Panthers.

Drew Kendall, who was a preseason standout, is expected to take the reigns. He plays guard and center so could play left guard or center if they kicked Jurgens outside a bit.

Kendall was a fifth-round pick of the Birds in the 2025 draft. He’s appeared in eight games, including this past weekend, but mostly as a special teams player. He does have 89 offensive snaps, however, with 64 coming when he was the starter in the meaningless week 17 game the Eagles had last year.

Those reps may now become invaluable in his being ready to take over.

The only other option at the position would be Willie Lampkin, but he’s been with the team for fewer time and his injury has slowed some development making Kendall the smarter move at this point.

Jordan Mailata was the top graded OL in football this weekend, so there’s that going for whoever plays left guard. The bigger question will be, if Kendall can provide better play than the injured Dickerson, will we see better play from Cam Jurgens when he’s not being flanked on both sides by some of the worst offensive line play this city has seen in some time.
