May 19: Florida Panthers HTR leak!

What is the NHL Hometown Remix program?
The NHL may finally be getting its own version of MLB’s wildly popular “City Connect” program.
While nothing has been officially announced by the league or by Fanatics, mounting reports, trademark filings, retailer leaks and jersey community rumors all point toward a new NHL alternate uniform initiative called “Hometown Remix” launching during the 2026-27 season.
Here’s everything we know so far about the rumored program.
What is the “Hometown Remix” program?
“Hometown Remix” — often shortened online to “HTR” — is reportedly a new league-wide alternate jersey initiative designed to celebrate each NHL team’s city, culture, history and identity in a more creative way than traditional third jerseys.
The concept has repeatedly been compared to MLB’s “City Connect” series and the NBA’s “City Edition” uniforms.
According to multiple reports and leaks from sports uniform communities, each NHL franchise has submitted a primary color theme and design direction tied to its local market or franchise history.
The jerseys are expected to be:
- Alternate uniforms
- Worn select times during the season
- More experimental than traditional NHL jerseys
- Designed heavily around local branding and storytelling
At this point, there’s little doubt the NHL’s “Hometown Remix” program is actually happening. Multiple uniform-centric outlets and jersey insiders have independently verified elements of the project, including leaked concepts and internal retailer information. Sites like Icethetics and SportsLogos.net have been at the forefront of tracking the rollout, with recent leaks reportedly revealing a Florida Panthers design while additional rumors continue to circulate around the Buffalo Sabres and several other teams.
What could the jerseys look like?
That remains the biggest mystery.
Most reports suggest the uniforms will not simply be retro throwbacks or recolored alternates. Instead, they’ll likely blend:
- Local city themes
- Historical franchise elements
- Cultural references
- Non-traditional color palettes
- Modern graphic design concepts
What does this mean for the Flyers?
The rumors have become especially interesting in Philadelphia because the Philadelphia Flyers quietly stopped wearing their black alternate jerseys during the 2025-26 season. That immediately sparked speculation that the organization could be preparing for a new Hometown Remix uniform rollout instead. Some online reports suggest the Flyers’ HTR jersey could feature black or grey as the base color, though again, nothing has been officially confirmed. For Flyers fans, the bigger hope may be that the franchise leans into the aggressive late-1990s/early-2000s black jersey aesthetic that remains extremely popular with the fanbase.

When could the NHL officially announce it?
Announcements would likely begin sometime during the summer of 2026 leading into the 2026-27 season. That timeline would mirror how the NHL and Fanatics handled previous alternate jersey reveals and specialty event uniforms. Until then, nearly everything surrounding “Hometown Remix” remains rumor, speculation and leaks. But at this point, there’s enough smoke to believe something significant may indeed be coming to NHL uniforms next season.
