The selection marks the first All-Star appearance of Luzardo’s career and caps an impressive first half in his debut season with Philadelphia. Entering the All-Star break, the 28-year-old has posted a 3.75 ERA while striking out 125 batters across 103.1 innings, giving the Phillies another deserving representative in South Philly.
Luzardo has been one of the anchors of Philadelphia’s starting rotation this season, providing consistency behind Zack Wheeler and helping keep the Phillies among the National League’s top contenders heading into the second half.
