The Philadelphia Eagles have secured one of the NFL’s premier defensive players for years to come.

According to reports, the Eagles and All-Pro defensive tackle Jalen Carter have agreed to a four-year, $152 million contract extension that includes $106 million guaranteed. The deal makes Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history, surpassing Tennessee’s Jeffery Simmons at $35.2 million per season.

Philadelphia has now locked up both of its young defensive tackles after signing Jordan Davis to an extension earlier this offseason. General manager Howie Roseman continues his philosophy of building through the trenches, ensuring the Eagles’ defensive front remains among the league’s elite.

Carter, a two-time Pro Bowler and one of the NFL’s most disruptive interior defenders, has quickly become the centerpiece of Philadelphia’s defense. At just 25 years old, the Eagles are betting that their dominant defensive tackle will continue anchoring the defense well into the future.
