The Philadelphia Phillies continued to reshape their roster ahead of the MLB trade deadline, acquiring veteran left-handed reliever Brooks Raley from the New York Mets. In exchange, Philadelphia sent right-handed pitcher Luke Gabrysh and outfield prospect John Spikerman, the organization’s No. 28 prospect, to New York.

Raley gives the Phillies another experienced left-handed option in the bullpen, adding postseason experience and a reliable late-inning arm as the club prepares for the stretch run. Strengthening the relief corps has been one of Philadelphia’s top priorities, and President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski has aggressively addressed that need.

With the additions of Luis Arraez, Kaleb Kilian, and now Brooks Raley, the Phillies have significantly upgraded both their lineup and pitching staff ahead of October.
