The Eagles have made their living at tight end in the second round in recent history.
They hope that history repeats itself again.
With the 52nd pick, the Eagles go to Vanderbilt for Eli Stowers.
Stowers was a first-team All-American last year with 769 receiving yards for the bottom feeders of the SEC and won the Mackey Award.
He led his team in catches.
The expectations will be high for the player widely considered the second-best TE in the draft – the Eagles last picked both Ertz and Goedert in the second round and those two combined to cover the position for the past 13 seasons.
The Eagles have Goedert back, but only for one season under contract. They have no serious top options behind him, so Stowers will compete for the TE2 role on day 1.
