The Eagles made their second-round pick, but their only looking at one third-round pick now.

The comp pick the Eagles received for Milton Williams is being sent to the Vikings along with a 2027 third-round pick for Jonathan Greenard.

The Eagles also receive pick 244 at the end of this draft in the deal.

Greenard is on the final year of his deal and carried a $22 million cap hit (about $10 million of which Minnesota seems poised to absorb).

As part of the deal, the Eagles and Greenard are signing a contract extension worth $100 million over four years.

$50 million is guaranteed.

The Birds lost Jaelan Phillips this offseason to a $30 million APY four-year contract and now they land his replacement for $5 million less.

The team likely looks at this move like keeping Phillips but trading back from the third to the seventh to save $5 million per year in cap and gain a fifth year of control over the productive DE.

The third-round pick from next year the team is willing to trade precisely because Phillips’ departure should bring them another third-rounder next year.

Additionally, the team gives up the lower of their third-round picks in a draft widely considered to be a weaker one than most recent drafts.

Greenard was a productive player last year, but the team is looking to get him back to his 2023 and 2024 production, when he totaled 24.5 sacks with 111 tackles over the regular season along with five forced fumbles and batted passes.

Greenard made a Pro Bowl in 2024 and was selected by the players as the 48th best player in the league last offseason.

He comes with a far less extensive injury history than Phillips does, but does not have the direct experience with Vic Fangio.
