The Philadelphia Flyers will be without one of their top offensive weapons entering Game 1 of their second-round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Head coach Rick Tocchet labeled leading scorer Owen Tippett as “day-to-day” Saturday due to an undisclosed injury. Tippett reportedly participated in the team’s optional morning skate before uncertainty surrounding his status continued throughout the day.

The winger appeared to battle through the injury during Philadelphia’s first-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, including playing heavy minutes in the Flyers’ Game 6 overtime victory.

Tippett led the Flyers with 28 goals during the regular season and remains one of the team’s most dangerous scoring threats. If unavailable, Philadelphia would face an even bigger challenge against one of the NHL’s deepest and fastest teams in Carolina.

Game 1 between the Flyers and Hurricanes is set for Saturday night in Raleigh.
