For the first time since the 1982 Eastern Conference Finals, the Philadelphia 76ers eliminated the Boston Celtics in an NBA Playoff series and they did it in dramatic fashion after trailing the series 3-1.

In the ninth Game 7 meeting between the longtime rivals, Joel Embiid battled through injuries and delivered a dominant performance with 34 points to lead Philadelphia to the historic victory. Tyrese Maxey added 30 points, including several clutch buckets in the final two minutes that helped seal the win and silence the Boston crowd.

The series victory marks another memorable chapter in one of the NBA’s fiercest rivalries and sends the Sixers to the second round with momentum on their side.

Now, Philadelphia turns its attention to yet another bitter rival: the New York Knicks. The Atlantic Division foes are set to meet in what promises to be another intense postseason battle with a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line.
