The Philadelphia 76ers’ search to replace former president of basketball operations Daryl Morey continues to expand, with multiple new names reportedly entering the mix. According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Bob Myers is expected to interview Minnesota Timberwolves general manager Matt Lloyd this week for the franchise’s top front-office role.
Lloyd has become one of the NBA’s fastest-rising executives after climbing from a communications role with the Chicago Bulls into a key basketball operations position with Minnesota under Tim Connelly. He was previously viewed as a strong candidate for Chicago’s lead executive opening earlier this offseason.
The Sixers are also expected to meet with Cleveland Cavaliers GM Mike Gansey, while Phoenix Mercury GM Nick U’Ren remains on Myers’ growing list of candidates. Both executives were previously linked to Philadelphia’s opening earlier this week.
Former Portland Trail Blazers executive Neil Olshey, despite consulting with the organization recently, reportedly will not be involved in the Myers-led search process.
