Oh look, it must be that time of year again! That means time for Chris Simms to unveil another quarterback ranking designed specifically to give WIP a gazillion hours of talking points.

Once again his target: Jalen Hurts.

After ranking Hurts No. 10 entering last season, Simms dropped the Eagles quarterback all the way down to No. 21 in his 2026 QB Countdown while criticizing his pocket presence, decision-making, and willingness to “do what the play says to do.”

Because apparently leading a franchise to multiple deep playoff runs, winning games consistently, and playing his best when it means the most still isn’t enough to avoid the annual Simms discourse cycle.

To be fair, Hurts did have an uneven 2025 season and deserves criticism for stretches where the passing offense sputtered. But No. 21 feels excessive, especially considering the praise coming from inside the Eagles building this offseason.

New offensive coordinator Sean Mannion recently said he’s been impressed by Hurts’ command, leadership, and attention to detail during offseason work, adding that Hurts has been “locked in” throughout the early stages of the new offense installation.

So while Simms continues his yearly tradition of doubting Hurts, the Eagles seem pretty comfortable with the quarterback leading their offense entering 2026.
