The Birds are signing a back that was in mini camp.

Elijah Mitchell will be headed to Philadelphia.
It will be his fourth team in three seasons.

After spending four seasons with San Francisco, he spent time last season with the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs.
After a 2024 injury, he didn’t see any meaningful action in 2025. He did have nearly 300 scrimmage yards in 2022 and 2023 after a rookie 2021 campaign where he had 1,100 scrimmage yards in San Francisco.
He has an uphill battle to break a room headlined by Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby with Will Shipley still on his rookie contract and the duo of Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele looking to break the roster themselves.

Mitchell does have experience in the type of offense new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion is expected to install, so that is a likely reason he’s being brought in to try and help the other players along with the learning process.
