One of the Phillies’ top prospects will be sidelined a bit longer.
The Phillies announced on Tuesday that infielder Aidan Miller has been diagnosed with discogenic pain and facet inflammation in his lumbar spine after experiencing recurring back discomfort while ramping back up for baseball activities.
From the ball club:
“Phillies infielder Aidan Miller has been diagnosed with discogenic pain and facet inflammation in the lumbar spine. Due to recurrence of low back pain when returning to baseball activities, he was seen by spine specialists over the last couple of weeks. The specialists were in agreement that the recommended course of treatment is a minimally invasive procedure called a radiofrequency ablation of the facet joints.”
Miller is scheduled to undergo the procedure on Friday, June 5. The Phillies expect the 2023 first-round pick to return to game action in approximately six-to-eight weeks.
