The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly in the market for a right-handed bat as the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline rapidly approaches. Frankly, that shouldn’t surprise anyone.

After moving on from Nick Castellanos during the offseason, the Phillies hoped veteran outfielder Adolis Garcia could stabilize right field and provide some much-needed power. Instead, Garcia struggled to produce and has now been lost for the remainder of the season after suffering a significant lat injury, leaving an already thin outfield situation even more problematic.

According to a report from USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Phillies are “desperately” searching for outfield help and have their eyes on two potential targets: Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell and Chicago Cubs slugger Seiya Suzuki.

Adell has quietly put together a solid season for the Angels. Through mid-June, the 27-year-old is hitting .235 with nine home runs and 35 RBI while showing the power potential that made him one of baseball’s top prospects. Adell has also been swinging a hot bat recently, giving the Phillies a younger option with upside who could potentially stick beyond 2026.

Suzuki would represent a more established middle-of-the-order addition. The Cubs outfielder has produced 17 home runs and 53 RBI dating back to last season’s second half and remains one of the more dangerous right-handed bats in the National League. His ability to hit for power while getting on base would immediately strengthen a Phillies lineup that has become increasingly left-handed.

Whether either player is ultimately available remains to be seen, but the Phillies’ need for outfield help has become impossible to ignore. With Garcia sidelined and right field providing little production throughout the season, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski appears poised to be one of the more aggressive buyers on the market.

The 2026 MLB Trade Deadline is set for August 3 at 6 p.m. ET, giving Philadelphia just over six weeks to address one of the most glaring holes on a roster built to contend for a World Series championship.
