Philadelphia: The World Cup so far has produced a lot of great, drama-filled moments & we got more of that on Friday Night as Brazil took on Haiti in Group C action from Philadelphia Stadium (usually known as Lincoln Financial Field). Brazil comes into the game off a draw to Morocco, while their opponent, Haiti, made their way to South Philly off a loss to Scotland.
This game had a special feel for Haitian player Danley Jean Jacques, who plays for the Philadelphia Union of MLS.
Lineup:
How the game went:
Brazil thought they got the scoring started in the 12th minute, but they were ruled offside; the scoring officially got started in the 23rd minute from Matheus Cunha
Later on in the 1st half, Matheus Cunha would not be done as he scored for the 2nd time in the match, this one in the 36th minute
The scoring attack for Brazil in the 1st half would not stop, as 3rd goal would be added in stoppage time from Vinícius Júnior
Brazil would steal the show in the 1st half with the 3-0 lead & what could Haiti do to get back into the game? They would have their chances, but would be unable to finish.
Later in the 2nd half, Danley Jean Jacques would pick up a yellow card
A sold-out crowd of 68,324 would see Brazil shut out Haiti 3-0 & as for the crowd, I would say it was 80/20 in favor of Brazil. Brazil’s performance from the start tonight showed they wanted to flex their muscles and prove they are the team everyone thought they would be.
